It was a pretty quick process, Sunday morning my mum said she was now open to the idea of getting a puppy and by that night we had chosen a breed and found a seller. By Monday we had a list of potential names: Snookie, Dale, Barnabey, Jacob, Logan, Cooper, Bailey, Cappie, Brownie and Oscar. However each name was rejected by someone, when I suggested Cappie, my mum misheard and thought I said Happy and agreed. When I was saying Happy would be bad, he responded to the name so Happy it was despite not loving the name. Now getting a little ahead of myself here and haven't even explained picking Happy out. For our past two dogs, we line up the litter and the first one that comes up when called is the one we choose (my first dog Sheba was from the RSPCA so didn't use that method), this time however only two males were left in the litter (we originally wanted a female) so we just chose the hyper one. Because he is still quite young Happy spends most of the day sleeping, but when awake he can a be a little destructive. His faves are chewing on electrical wires, shoes, handbags, silk scarves, jeans and Dinky's tail. But he is super cute and fairly smart (he already knows sit and drop). Ok enough with the puppy ramblings.

90 days of summer: Beaches, Birthdays and Croqembouche

Days 39-41: Mini holiday! We hired out a beach house in Wamberal (selected by me) and our family plus five others drove up. The house was much better than I expected, really cute beach theme with lots of space. And the weather was perfect. The beach was only a five minute walk, if that and Terrigal was like a couple ks away and could be seen from Wamberal beach (we did walk from Wamberal beach to Terrigal, thinking it would be so far but walking that far in sand in such heat is a killer). The days we spent swimming, boarding and exploring/ The nights spent movie marathoning. The first night we had a depressing theme with Marley & Me, A Walk to Remember and P.S I Love You (which most of us fell asleep in). The second night was much lighter with Bride Wars, He's Just Not That Into You and 17 Again. Was such a fun holiday, went by too quick.
Day 42: The big two oh. Such a depressing birthday, saying goodbye to the teenage years. Anji was on her traditional holiday sleepover and we and sister went to watch The Lovely Bones. Was a really good movie, kept us all captivated throughout.
Day 45: Mirelle, Vivian and I trained and ferried it up to Tonia's house to attempt list item #10 (making croqembouche). The final result, was kinda a semi fail with us burning the toffee and the structure dying but hey at least we tried and it was edible.

90 days of summer: Bondi Roadie

Day 37: Was so so much fun, what summer is all about. Well after 1pm anyway. From 9-1 I had work but after that the fun began. Met Liv and Himas at Westpoint, then Gabs and Sep at the carpark. We then drove up to the iconic Bondi Beach. And it was packed, we circled Bondi before finally finding parking. Then was the long walk to the beach, first stop when we finally got there was fish and chips. We ate them at this picnic area above the beach, then we hit the sand and that is when the weather to changed becoming grey and a bit cold. We spent the arvo taking pics and checking out the uh..."scenery". We did dip our toes into the water but it was icy. And we totally spotted some of the lifeguards off Bondi rescue. We then decided to head off and find a cute cafe. But before we left Hima and I got ourselves a fried Mars Bar, not as greasy as I was expecting. This time we found a quicker more path to where we were parked. We got stuck in traffic and veto-ed against going to a cafe in the city, we ended up at San Churros at Parramatta for some chocolaty goodness. The drive up there was passed by singing along to Calvin Harris and Keisha, whilst taking like a hundred photos. Afterwards we drove home, blasting "beats". Had a great day out with the girls.

90 days of summer: Hello 2010!

Day 33: Woke up much much earlier than I would have liked so only got like four hours of sleep but my mood quickly got better when I found out that I had made links a la mode! Links a la mode is complied by Independent Fashion Bloggers, each week members can submit what they believe to be their best post of the week then they select 20 as links a la mode, ie links of the week. So very excited to get it this week, my first time after many attempts. And it really increases traffic to your blog. In the afternoon I had to work....it was seriously a ghost town. Then headed off to temps, as it is the first day of a new year. After the religiousness I got dropped off at Parramatta where I had dinner at Critinis with Becky, John, Hima, Laura and Gabs. The food there, as I have heard previously, is really good but the servings are soooo huge. Even though we all got small us girls were struggling to eat even half of our meal, in the end we ended up doggy bagging it.
Day 34: Work. Dinner at Anieka's, Anji's fam was also there. Played a loud round of pictionary where suspiciously Anji and Nadga beat Anieka and I despite our lead...turns out they cheated! Then we caught the second half of this movie called West....so stereotypical, pretty much conveyed the people as bogans who just get high and drunk all the time whilst bashing up other people. I don't know if it is just cause we only watched like half but it didn't really move me, and living in the west it was a little insulting.

90 days of summer: Goodbye noughties!

Day 32
Part Two:

Amazing. This part of the post may be a little disjointed and may break into dot points but I just want to include everything. So got ready, I think I ended up looking five, proved my some random guy saying "clearly you are not 18" at some point in the night. Then off we went to Anji's house, Anji's friend Laura was already there. Took a few pics poolside then off we went to Pennant Hills station, from there we took the train to Milson's Point. Now let me tell you that going to the city for NYE has been in the works for ages! The first year we decided to go it just didn't happen, the year after my family was overseas and the year after that Anji's family was overseas. So yeah now that it was finally happening we were pumped! As we got off the train we were super surprised and excited to spot an ex-Neighbours cast member! Anji, only knowing he is famous had like a heart attack.We then headed to my uncle's office, from the street outside we had an amazing view of the Harbour Bridge. So we checked out the view and then headed back into the office to eat dinner. It was really weird being in a empty building at night with the tribe plus Laura. At around 8.45pm we headed down to watch the 9 o'clock fireworks. Aussie pride was at a high then and throughout the night as there were numerous attempts to start the "Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi" chant, all attempts which failed because hey it was NYE not Australia Day, no time for being patriotic. After those fireworks we headed back into the office. The girls (my sister, Anji, Laura and I) went into the board room, mucked around for a bit, flashing our camera out the window towards a nearby hotel, we got one flash back by who we suspect was an old man. Then the four of us went to the balcony which we discovered was where the fun was. The balcony btw does not face the Harbour but the other side of the city. So we bought out some snacks and chairs and sat making friends with passer-bys. Some of our adventures;

Two like 15yos under the balcony lighting up ciggies, the guy looks up to find us shaking our heads and starts to freak out "Oh crap, Oh crap they saw us"

Guy walks past, points at Laura "You are stunning! You are gorgeous"

Another guy walks past, points at Laura "Lowie, Lowie". That night I learnt what Lowie meant, I feel so old not being down with the slang.

A huge group of young guys walk past, we exchange waves and happy new years. They stop. "Having a party?". Anji "Yeah, this is my dad's apartment" (this is what we were telling ourselves) "Can we come up?". Me and Laura whispering to ourselves no no, we have no chocolate ( as Anji had offered them some). We then noticed the group had gotten bigger and other random passer-bys were stopping and looking up. Anji "Oh no my dad's here". "I wanna meet him"

"Pour us some" Guys thinking our water was vodka, despite us trying to convince them otherwise.

So there were like a million balcony stories but must not bore. Then the rentals decided that they wanted to go walkies so off we went to Luna Park. The entrances to Luna Park were all gated off since they were throwing a ticketed event, however when we went past people were sneaking through. There we two points where people were doing this, the second point only had like five people so my Aunty followed them. At this point I was like we are going to get arrested, and then just like magic one of the guys from the smaller group pulls out his badge at my Aunty! "I'm a cop and you can't go here" It was hilarious. So we went on our way, going through some side streets. At this point we were passing heaps of party goers and really wanted some glo sticks and then the heavens sent us some. Well not quite. As we were going in some alley we went past the back of either a hotel or apartment and from the roof someone threw down a glo stick, we looked up and yelled for them to throw down three more, and they gave us heaps. We thanked them and went on our way...to discover this amazing close up view of the bridge in front of us and the lit up ferris wheel to the right of us. However we decided that the view we had before was better as it gave us a full view of the bridge and two other firework displays. On the way back we went past the hotel/apartment again and they threw us down even more glo sticks! So nice! So previously that night we had passed this freshie who had wished us happy new year and we saw him again, this time he looked me and Anji down: "Lukin good" and started serenading us in some Indo song. We both have him rude looks and I snapped " We are not even Indian". Sounds bitchy but sleazy freshies are OTT and barf worthy. We continued up the alley and as we waited up the top for the oldies to catch up this guy started peeing on the wall right in front of us! We couldn't help but laugh at his openness, his friend joined us and was like "He could have gone down where it's more private". Anji "He is just showing off". Guy "Nah he isn't that impressive trust me". Anji "Oh so you've seen?".

We then headed back to the office. We sat back on the balcony until 11.30 which was when we headed back down. The fireworks on the bridge were amazing, our little digi cams did not do them justice. After the fireworks we headed to the station, which was intense. Thousands of people heading home, a fight even broke out right behind us! The train ride, although packed, was pretty mellow. The highlight was spotting Sep and her friend at some random station and amusing/pissing off the carriage with our phone convo. When we got to Penno we split ways, got home around 3.30. Fantastic start to 2010.

Sydney NYE firework finale from Danushi on Vimeo.

90 days of summer: Goodbye noughties!

Day 32 a.k.a NYE
Part One: Woke up to find grey skies and rain *groan*. Then I headed off to the post office to send a dress I had sold on ebay, here is a tip for wet weather: don't wear thongs, you can't move to fast without slipping and so when you are crossing major roads you have to hope the drivers are nice enough not to run you down (and who really wants to deal with manslaughter on NYE?). After I got home I busied myself with making lunch, prepping hot snacks for tonight and vacumming, what a thrilling life I lead.

Procrastinors 09

Some of the things that amused me when I should of been studying or saved me from dying of boredom in 2009.

Blogging
Fairly recent but still this amusement came just in time for finals.

TV on DVD

What's not to love? So we don't really do Christmas, no extravagant gift giving or feasting but we do do small gift exchanging so that was how the day started. Then we headed off to Parsley Bay, which is this small beach hidden in the city frequented by locals. I drove, which kind of turned me off city living: city driving is stressful. As we got closer to the Bay the idea of living in the city did get better as we passed all the gorgeous mansions. When we got there we met up with Niv's family and later were joined by a couple of other families such as Anji's and O'hara's. Since the day wasn't exactly beach weather we decided to go for a walk which was cut short when we encountered a dragon-like lizard blocking our path. Later we did brave the water and after awhile it didn't feel so cold, until the weather shifted again. After our swim we played with my little cousin Tara, ate, and played pseudo neucomb ball with an enormous Dora the Explorer ball. And then it started to rain so we left, deciding to meet up for dinner at Anji's. When we got home I passed time by going on facebook and watching some of the special features on GossipGirl Season two, which I had received earlier that morning. Then we left for Anji's house where we just hung out, took pics and possibly freak out Anji about uni. Twas fun. Overall I had a really good Christmas despite the weather and it not being traditional.

90 days of summer: Working Girl

Days 19-25: Pretty much been about work, work, work. Tonia lent me the DVD just yesterday and I've almost worked my way through the first disc. I heart this show, don't know why they don't have it on free-to-air, it's very addictive. If you haven't heard about it, it is about the Greek system at a college i.e. it's all about sorority and fraternity life, and every time I watch it I wish we had them here. After a bit of Greek it was a train to Kingswood where I met Gabs and off we headed to Mel's. Got there, parked on the lawn and walked towards the house; "I don't remember there being a gate", "That's not Mel's dog", "Ah I think we have the wrong house". A quick call quickly cleared up that yes we were at the wrong house. Once we got to Mel's actual house, hours of SingStar and eating followed with Tamanna, Zaara, Laura, Jcal (well for a bit, we left pretty much after she arrived).

90 days of summer: My name is danushi and I'm a shop-aholic

Days 13&14: Pretty much consisted of working and an impromptu tribal gathering. Mirelle and I met Tonia and her highschool friend, Katherine, at uni and she drove us over. As soon as we got there we got ourselves a bit of a sweet treat, love how all outings revolve around food. Got to say though the shopping was very disappointing, I was all pumped up for bargains but all I bought was a bag. We only ended up staying for like two hours before heading back to Macquarie, dropping Katherine on the way. We lunched at Vogue Cafe, was so devo because the pink sauce salmon gnocchi I had last time we were there had have been craving since is no longer on the menu. After lunch we did a bit of unsuccessful xmas shopping then Mirelle and I caught a very festively decorated bus home.

90 days of summer: A Week in the Fashion Industry Part Three (the final one)

Day 12: The big day, the warehouse sale. It was actually also the same day as the Cooper St warehouse sale so I got to the city early so I could have a bit of a shop. The Cooper St sale was chaotic, a tiny room full of about 50 or so girls trying to find a bargain. Due to the craziness I only grabbed a few pieces and got out as soon as I could. Ran into the Irish intern on my way to Dolly Dolly, when we got there it was explained that we would pretty much be tidying it up after the mess everyone creates. For the majority of the day I pretty much manned the communal change room, it was pretty hectic I would finally get all the clothes and hangers cleaned up off the floor only to turn around a minute later to find it crazy again. But it wasn't too bad, we would often see a cute pieces whilst sorting through that we would put away to purchase later, great for my wardrobe not so much for my wallet. So yeah the day was pretty much cleaning and giving my opinion on people's choices ( Sooo cute! was a phrase I used and heard a lot today). A lot of people actually wanted the dress I was wearing (which you can see images of on my other blog) which sold out early in the morning. Some of them looked at the dress with such wanting I thought they would ask for it right off my back. Also had a convo with the American intern about the stereotypes we have of Americans being kind of true and how surprised she was to discover how behind the times Australia is, which was surprising for me to here since I thought we were pretty forward. Then came the end of the day, was a bit sad everyone there was really nice not at all like the stereotypical fashionista bitches. And that concludes my week in the fashion industry.

90 days of summer: A Week in the Fashion Industry Part Two

Day 10: Today was my second day at Dolly Dolly, pretty much did what we did yesterday plus unpacking and folding these sparkly blue jumpers. Then the German intern and I prepared like hundreds of flyers promoting the warehouse sale and then proceeded to go around the city handing them out. On my lunch break I hit up the Ladakh warehouse sale, everything $15. I bought this cute red halter dress, would have bought more expect it was cash only and I only had a 20 on me. P.S Whilst on my way in the morning I'm pretty certain I spotted Shae from Saturday Disney, this probably means nothing to people aged over 10.
Day 11: Today was painful to say the least. It started off okay with the German intern and I again wondering the streets of Sydney handing out flyers. I hate being on this end of it, much prefer the one that avoids flyer handerouters. We did manage to hand out every single one (the trick is to stand outside Central, heavy traffic spot). When we got back we and another intern, the Irish intern and later the American intern spent the rest of the day carrying stacks and stacks of clothes down two flights of stairs to the warehouse. We are seriously going to be buffed and toned because of it. Although there was a silver lining to the day, we got asked to pick out clothes so we would have outfits for tomorrow! Fantastic.

90 days of summer: A Week in the Fashion Industry Part One

Today I started my work experience with the Dolly Dolly Creation group who are the umbrella for labels such as Bebe Sydney and Grace&Hart. As I stepped off the train at Central Station I sheepishly pulled out my printed step by step directions on how to get there, it was surprisingly really close to the station. As I walked down the street where it was located I walked past several labels, not quite the meat packing district but still pretty cool. On arrival I was shown around the main floor, at the front there are a couple offices and out the back there is huge room with racks and racks of clothes, every girl's (a few guys) dream. It was quickly explained that this week would be all about prep for the warehouse sale on Friday. My first task of the day was to unpack and hang swimwear, easy enough. I was soon joined by a fellow work experience kid. Our next task (which we were told was what we would pretty much be doing for the rest of the week) was sorting out hundred of pieces into colours and such. Later in the afternoon the other work experience kid and I were given a cheque and a map and asked to go to the fabric store. We found it easy enough, it was actually a pretty cool store, very fashiony. After handing over our cheque we were handed four huge rolls of fabric, we then realised that we would have to lug them all the way back, in the crazy heat, by ourselves. We left the store with everyone inside expressing their pity. As we juggled the material, trying not to hit passerbys we had to admit that we felt a little like those fashion interns portrayed in many movies and shows. After that it was back to sorting out the clothes, it was actually more fun than the first half of the day because we made friends with a German intern and as we sorted out the clothes we awed or hmmm not my taste-d the pieces. So that was pretty much my first day in the fashion industry, now I'm off to rest my throbbing feet.

90 days of summer: Luck of the draw

Day 3: Today was pretty much about prep for tomorrow (making cupcakes) and next week (unsuccessful clothes shopping) and it ended with watching the latest episode of GossipGirl, nice to see that even in season 3 it still has me gasping (and not to give anything away but this ep involved a Dorato OMG which is a nice change)

Day 4: River day. Started off with a bit of solo browsing of the Plaza, never realised how slow people move there before! Then met up with Mel and her mother who gave us a lift to Nepean River, we were later joined by Becky, John, Kelly and then even later Hima and Mark (who had been going up and down the wrong side of the river for like half and hour or so searching for us). The group was much smaller than expected but it still ended up being a nice, relaxing day. I then came home to to find my Cosmo had arrived (the first issue for 2010 with Megan Fox on the cover...hmm not much of a fan and even the interview that attempted to portray her as this insecure being didn't win me over) and a mysterious package, mysterious only because I hadn't ordered anything. After quickly tearing it open I discovered the OneLove Mobile Disco 2010 album and a brief note congratulating me on winning it from Cosmo. Sweeet. I have always been one of those people that never won anything but this year I have been quite lucky winning a couple of textbook vouchers, a MYER giftvoucher and $50 credit. Unfortunately this luck did not extend to the 90million lottery.

90 days of summer: The first two

Day One: So being November 30th it isn't technically summer but as soon as I handed in my last psych exam (which btw was no where near as cruisy as I expected) it was the start of the holidays and felt like the start of summer. Three months of laziness and not having to worry about study or assignments. Bliss. And to celebrate I finally watch watched New Moon. Before the movie we (Mirelle, Nadia, Tonia and Vivian) headed over to Mac centre and did a little giftshopping, JB browsing, puppy watching (which only intensified my wanting) and magic fan admiring. Then New Moon. I was so excited to watch it, I was one of those Twi-hards that watched the trailer as soon as it came out, that read the book again before in preparation. And the movie was, in regards to the effects and the general lighting or whatever much better than Twilight, but it felt a little quick which I suppose is expected to happen if you're trying to squish the entire book into a neat little hour and a half. Another criticism: Kirsten's turned on face, upset face, angry face, scared face are all EXACTLY the same. But I did love the Jacob scenes (and I don't just mean the shirtless ones), although it was a shame that they only put in a few scenes which showed how protective Bella is of him instead portraying her as leading him on. After the film we all departed ways and Mirelle and I took a slightly depressing bus ride as we realised that the next time we would be on the good old 611 we would be stressed out third years, no longer teens.
Day Two: The morning started out with a bit of sewing and a couple of episodes of True Blood. True Blood is kind of different to the other Vampire themed things out there at the moment such as Twilight and Vampire Diaries. It's more gritty, and some of the scenes are uh...very explicit earning its R rating. Two major things that separate True Blood from the others is that one, the existence of vampires isn't a secret and two, the vampires aren't hot teens but rather middle aged ones.
The rest of the day pretty much consisted of net browsing, TV watching and being completely unproductive and not having to feel guilty about it.

101 Things

So I though a nice start to the blog would be a list of things I want to do in my life. Of course there are the obvious things like get a job I love, marriage, kids, happiness, achieve world peace rah rah. But this is a list of random little things, so in no particular order

Learn to surf (or attempt to)

Visit the Tiger Temple in Thailand (if you are an animal lover, google this place it's amazing)

Go on safari

Visit the USA. We have all grown up watching seeing America on TV and now I want to see it in real life (planned for 2011)

Speak French in France (I'm nowhere near fluent despite studying it for three years in highschool and a semester at uni, but I am hoping know enough just to ask how much something is)

Take photos in Santorini (and on the wishful side own a place up there where I could escape to)

Reach a thousand views on http://house-in-tillford.blogspot.com/ sometime in oct or nov 09

<s>Go to a fashion show</s>

Own something Chanel

<strike>Make croc en bouche (I blame masterchef and funnily enough ladette to lady for this being on the list. Them making it seem like the impossible dish was like them daring me to attempt it)</strike> Jan 14th 2010, even if it ended up a collapsed mess we still made it!

Swim with dolphins or sharks

Hit the town for a day with a foreign accent (briefly attempted this at uni last week, ended up with warped English accents and ended in giggles, lasting only five minutes)

Hire out a mansion for a week ( In October my cousin and I were searching for a holiday house to spend the weekend and we came across these amazing houses, unfortunately they had a 7 day minimum stay but we could already imagine that during our stay we could pretend that this was our house, our life)

Give blood (I have attempted this a few times: the first time there was no room, the second time I was under weight and the third time I passed out after I got my iron levels checked. But I'm thinking that each time I make a progression to the next stage so eventually I will get there)

Go ice skating

Finish the scarf I have been working on for the past five years, I'll do it for a week then get bored, forget about it, then find it again a year and the cycle continues

Audition for a reality show for the laughs

Go to the races

Own or train a race horse

<strike>Get a fashion/pr/marketing/psych internship</strike> At Dolly Dolly Creation Group, Dec '09

Ok so obviously not 101, but I'm still young so I'm positive it will grow. But keep an eye out on my blog to see if I can tick any of these off.
